About the Executive Director

Harold Jones is first-generation immigrant from the Caribbean island of Barbados. Harold is a graduate of the City University of New York in engineering and pursued a successful 39-year career, 15 years as a nuclear engineer with Raytheon Corporation, culminating with a position as a Senior Power Engineer with General Electric Company (GE) for 24 years. Harold has always had a passion for improving his community, even as a high school student in his native Barbados, which is something he continues to dedicate himself to fifty years later.

Harold was appointed the co-chair of the NY Rising Committee since he had an engineering background that enabled him to liaise with the engineering firms hired for the various rebuilding infrastructure projects. In 2016, when the final report was completed and the Committee was disbanded, Harold founded Canarsie Community Development Inc. (CCDI) – a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit with four other members of the Canarsie Committee to ensure projects were implemented and to identify issues that impact residents and provide a forum to address common concerns affecting Canarsie.
